Microsoft has pushed back the end of support dates for a raft of software versions in order to ease the burden on stretched IT teams during the COVID19 pandemic.
Organisations have to keep their systems updated with supported versions of software in order to benefit from the monthly security patches which are essential for network security. This announcement from Microsoft means organisations will be able to delay version upgrades of these systems and keep on receiving monthly security patches until after the pandemic has subsided.
In an announcement on their website, Microsoft states that product versions due to end support in April will now be supported until at least October 2020, and many beyond that date.
“We were very impressed with the service, I will say, the vulnerability found was one our previous organisation had not picked up, which does make you wonder if anything else was missed.”
